Comments about Womens Mizuno Wave Sayonara Running Shoe:

I alternate my running (5-19 miles) between two different brands of shoes. I like the Sayonaras for their lightness and the way they have changed my stride to a more forefoot landing. I use these on long training runs and marathons.

Comments about Womens Mizuno Wave Sayonara Running Shoe:

I was looking for a light shoe for speedwork and low distance runs. Tired this on in the store and ran on the TM and it felt good. Took it out for a 4 mile run and it felt so light and fast. I was really happy. But then I started to experience knee pain after runs. On my last run, I barely made it home b/c my knees and hamstrings were hurting so bad. Sad but I had to send them back.

Comments about Womens Mizuno Wave Sayonara Running Shoe:

I bought these shoes for running. I was properly fitted at a running store so there should be no problem with the wrong size or anything. I have worn them daily for strength training and had no problems, but when I actually wear them to run they are uncomfortable. I ended up getting shin splints and my toes cramped up. Not a good shoe for running. No support or cushion whatsoever. Also, I have only owned them for three weeks and only wear them to workout and run. They are already wearing where the laces run across the top.

Comments about Womens Mizuno Wave Sayonara Running Shoe:

I bought these midway through marathon training as a reward for completing the first 10 weeks of my program. I was a bit leery about buying them without trying them on first (local running store didn't have them in my size), but I have no regrets! They're so incredibly lightweight, but I never feel like I need "more" shoe, even on long runs. I tend to like lightweight, neutral shoes that don't try to "correct" one's stride too much, and these are perfect for that. My feet are on the narrow side, which was an issue with previous running shoes (different brands), but these fit perfectly.

I also wore them for the marathon, and they held up great. I'd definitely recommend these to anyone who likes lightweight shoes but doesn't want to go the full minimalist route.

My only complaint is that I wish they came in more/better colors for women. Not a huge fan of the pink/purple, but the blue/white (which I ordered) gets dirty easily.

I love these shoes!!! I've been wearing the wave riders for the past few years, mixed in with NB 890s (not good for distance). Immediately love the fit and feel of the Sayonara-- in addition to training runs, I've raced a 5k and half in them already-- felt awesome, light and enough cushion for both distances.

Comments about Womens Mizuno Wave Sayonara Running Shoe:

Both the Wave Elixir and Wave Precision are/will be discontinued. They were in the same class of lightweight performance trainers, and so is the Sayonara. That's pretty much it for similarities. The Sayonara is nothing like either the Precision or Elixir. If you wore the Elixir or Precision, you'll probably be able to wear the Sayonara too.

This isn't a super-cushioned shoe; it has a firm, snappy ride that feels best to me at slightly up-tempo paces or on the track. There's enough cushioning for long runs of 15-18 miles or so, but I don't think I'll take it farther than that. Traction is unbeatable, wet or dry. The fit isn't exactly narrow, but the toebox is really, really low. It feels confining when you first put it on, but I forget all about it when I run.

I wore and loved the Elixir for years and years, and I like the Sayonara, but it's not love. At this price point, I have to love it. There's nothing wrong with it, but there's lots more options in this category now that cost less. I'm keeping it to race in, but for every day I chose a more durable shoe with better value.

Comments about Womens Mizuno Wave Sayonara Running Shoe:

Found this to be the wave precision replacement and I'm very disappointed. They are stiff, no cushion, and my big toe rubs.in the toe box and my feet are super narrow! I'm going to have to try a different style or even brand. I'm a boston marathon runner and these will not do for that distance. Bring back the precisions!

Comments about Womens Mizuno Wave Sayonara Running Shoe:

I ordered this shoe as an alternative to the Mizuno Wave Rider, which I really like. The Sayonara seems to offer a bit more support than other minimalist shoes, but is light and comfortable to wear. I have worn this shoe on pavement and dirt roads. On the dirt roads, I have not felt any rocks.

Comments about Womens Mizuno Wave Sayonara Running Shoe:

The new Sayonara is a great debut shoe. It is all the things that the reviews indicate it is, lightweight, fast, comfortable, etc. but I disagree that it is a replacement for the Elixir. I have been wearing Mizunos (mainly the Elixir series) for several years and always wear a 9.5. The sizing was way off on the Sayonara. My feet were swimming in the 9.5. I sized down to a 9, which I am wearing comfortably enough but would prefer a bit more room in the toe box. The tight weave of the upper also overheats my feet. I prefer the breathability of the Elixir upper and hope that Mizuno can introduce a more breathable upper for the next version of the Sayonara. Although I prefer the firmness of the Elixir, I was pleasantly surprised with the Sayonara's midsole. Although more cushioned and less flexible/responsive than the Elixir, it is not squishy like the Saucony line or Brooks Pure Project line. While I still prefer my Elixirs, I do like the lower heel ramp of the Sayonara and am rotating in and adjusting to them and have put about 50 miles on them so far. I would definitely recommend trying out this shoe. With a couple of adjustments (more breathable upper and laces that don't come undone - prefer the Elixir's lace style), this shoe will go from a good shoe to a great shoe.

I got the white color and they are absolutely beautiful (never thought I would say that about a running shoe!). I just recently started wearing Mizuno's (Wave Rider 16's). These are a little bit more structured and tighter, but they work for my feet. Very lightweight and low profile compared to the Wave Rider's.

Took them out for the first time this past weekend for a 12 mi run in SF. Free from any blisters or discomfort!

Comments about Womens Mizuno Wave Sayonara Running Shoe:

This is a well made shoe but lacks breathe ability. My feet felt like they were one run away from some major heat issues!! I like the airiness of the Precisions better.

Comments about Womens Mizuno Wave Sayonara Running Shoe:

This shoe is an amazing asset to the Mizuno line. It is very lightweight and complimented with every finishing touch. The tongue is soft, the cushion is perfect, and the heel is just a tad lower than the Precision. My only issue is that it's just a tad on the narrow side so I'm sending it back for a 1/2 size larger and hope this does the trick. I found the same issue with my Nike Fly knits and think its the one piece upper that results in the need for a 1/2 size up for a more roomy fit.
(I wear an 8 in the Precision with plenty of room)
