I had always experienced some mild back, knee or hip discomfort when running but not enough to stop. I tried the minimalist approach, worked up to it slowly and it seemed to help at first but the discomfort returned so I gave these a try going in the opposite direction. Problem solved. The most comfortable , pain free runs I have ever had and I have been running for 40 years( I'm 72). They are a little stiff but that is the price for superior cushioning.

This is a really good shoe,it provides wonderful cushioning and its fit is perfect. It is incredibly light for the size of its soles. I am neither heavy but as an aging runner feeling the toles of decades of running, I appreciate the cushioning this shoe offers. The lace-box and tonuge are about the best design I have ever had on any shoe. I had a pair of the Hoka trail shoes and it was my observation that the tread wore very poorly and tended to be slippery on some wet surfaces. I think the same may be true for these shoes.

Excellent shoe so far. I have been an Asics Gel Kayano user since around the 8, and continue to use them as my alternate shoe. Tried the Bondi 3 in January (recovering from a pelvic stress fracture) for the cushioning, and like them a lot, but I find the Clifton superior. I am 6' 1", 185 lbs, and not a speedster by any stretch. Cliftons felt great right out of the box, just like my Asics usually do. I wonder how durable they will be due to the light weight, but am very pleased with them so far and would certainly buy them again.

I was having ankle issues and thought I was going to have to miss my first Rock n Roll Virginia Beach in 14 years. I got a pair of Hoka Cliftons the week before the race and they were great. For the first time in years I had no leg pain after a long run.

I finished a race I wouldn't have started thanks to Hoka One One.

I have worn the Stinson Tarmac, Stinson EVO, and the Conquest. The Clifton is as cush as the others with the benefit of light weight 8oz. Very breathable with the light weight mesh. May not be great for the Winter in the rain. But awesome on a hot day. I am 8 months post Achillies surgery and have tried a few different kinds of shoes during the recovery process. Just recently upped my mileage to 6-8-10 miles. I wore the Clifton's for a 2 miler to break them in. 2nd run was 10.0. No issues what so ever. I am a big guy at 6'2" 215lbs. so time will tell on how they break down. Was not an issues with the Stinson's and probably not the Conquest (Have not had the Conquest long enough to know. I am normally a Nike Vomero guy and have found the Clifton to have more stability than the Vomero. I am going to go a head and order a second pair of Cliftons. Not that $129.00 is cheap by any means, but it is in the relm of the Vomero's and a lot less than the Conquest's at $165.00. Since running in the Clifton's I doubt I will use the Conquest's to run in any more ( Maybe in the rain or wet conditions)and keep them for leisure. If you are on your feet all day... Not a bad idea to wear Hoka's. I could tell once I got out of my Achillies boot and started walking around. I felt much better at the end of the day when I wore my Hoka's then any other shoe!

This is a remarkable shoe and my new favorite for long runs. It is nearly as soft and deep as the Bondi and much lighter. The back of the sole at the heel is a bit more cut away than the Bondi, making the feel of the foot rock a bit different, but I adjusted to this easily. I find them very comfortable even though the upper is quite thin. I have put 70 miles on my pair and they seem to be holding up well. And for my taste they are significantly less ugly than other Hoka shoes. Not classy, but not embarrassing.

If you are getting older (as I am) or you are big, these shoes should make you sing. I can't figure out how they can be so light and feel so soft.

I run every other day. I really like these shoes so far very nice ride. The cushioning feels great but is a stable platform. I had the RAPA NUI 2 Tarmac and liked those but these are much lighter in weight. I just wished RRS would carry the blue version. I have had knee issues and hip issues in the past. I feel like the hoka shoes helped in my recovery and keep me from re injury.

I run three 10 milers weekly, I used to run in Hoka Bondi2 that kept me injury free then I got worried when they replaced it with Bondi3 which is an utmost failure in many respects (you can read reviews on here). And then, the Clifton came out---wow. Most importantly, this shoe is flexible while being supremely cushy and springy. Bondi2 drawback was its toe box didn't flex and forced me into an awkward foot strike, it just felt cumbersome. In Clifton, your foot also gets lucked in and you feel secure and stable. Also they have added rubber in high abrasion sole areas. Perfect shoe. Just small things I would improve (and this is being extremely picky) is adding a tongue pull, making longer shoe laces and new colors.) Btw, these shoe laces don't untie with just one knot--talking about attention to details by Hoka! PS. It fits true to size.

Loving this shoe! It really is incredible how a shoe with so much cushioning can be so light.
It is quite a fast shoe too, my times compared to those in my Asics Nimbus 16's are a fair bit quicker. I was surprised to say the least!
I've had 2 pairs of Hoka Conquests and was disappointed how quickly the cushioning on both of them collapsed. Time will tell with the Cliftons.
My only gripe is that the soles are so soft, the shoes pickup LOTS of sand spurs and thorns on my runs. I have to take the shoes off before entering my house, or I leave a trail of thorny surprises in the carpet!
I'll probably invest in a second pair. Good value too.

With an injury I've only been able to walk in them so far but the new Clifton's are incredibly lightweight and the most comfortable shoe I've worn. I can see why ultra runners use them but if they are truly as light as they advertise then this shoe is revolutionary! Can't wait to run my next marathon in them. I was formerly a minimum shoe fan but these have changed the way I look at shoes.

Very hard to imagine a shoe with this much cushion and size to be as light as it is. Truly one of the lightest shoes I have ever put on and I have literally tried dozens in the last year!

This shoe may not be for everyone, but those weighing in excess of 200 lbs it is a no brainer. I have had several surgeries on my right knee and one on my right foot. Any run beyond 1.5 miles would kill my joints. Not with this shoe. Great forefoot cushioning allows for those who don't run heel first the cushion they have longed for. Also, the shoe has a 4mm heel drop which allows for a more natural gait.

My only wish is that I could get the upper to fit a little more snug. This shoe runs a bit wide but I have a narrow foot. However, I have had no problems with slippage so far and I am strongly considering buying another pair.

So, I drank the Hoka cool aid a couple of years ago and have not looked back. I've been a big fan, and this shoe is no exception. I came upon this as I was looking for a road shoe like my old Brooks Launch - squishy-soft and light, but durable enough for my Clydesdale frame. I found them to be true to size, a little on the wide size, which in turn made me tighten them up so much that the laces became a tripping hazard. Other than that, I love the fit, finish, and feel of these "fast" shoes.

I run ~ 30 -50 miles a week and use the clifton and bondi3. I am super-excited for the clifton, as it is the 1st shoe from Hoka that could be use for racing. The bondi is way to big and heavy. I have ~25 miles into the Clifton and besides it running a bit large it is a great shoe.

I've run three times in these so far, about three to five miles each time. The cushioning makes for a comfortable run. These seem especially good for heavier runners, like me. Based on an online recommendation, I ordered a half size up. They fit well due to that. Despite their size, they are the lightest shoes I own, but offer good stability.

I received my shoes 2 weeks ago and have been running in them since. THis is the best shoe I have ever run in (Brooks-Asics-Saucony before). The light weight feature with the amount of cushioning is incredible. Received my copy of Runner magazine today and the Clifton was voted Editor's Choice as top running shoe. I know why.
