Comments about Garmin Forerunner 620 GPS Monitors:

GPS watches have come a long way in 5 years. I came from a Timex GPS watch that was terrible, it would only catch a signal 10% of the time after waiting 5 minutes. Of course never on race morning. I'd get frustrated hearing the beeps of everyone turning on garmin with no issues.

This signal locks on instantly. From walking out the door and 20 feet to the driveway I turn it on and it runs. It works well under trees, I think after about 500 miles it messed up 1 mile under really dense tree coverage.

I wear it all the time as my every day watch, and charge it about once or twice a week. Usually I toss it on the charger after a run the day before my long run, and when i'm out of the shower it's charged up.

The garmin connect site is easy to use, quick to keep track of stats. I still have to bust out excel to do some PR analysis since I like to keep track of records for every mile, garmin does not do this.

Many people have issues with wifi upload, I never got it to work, but it works well with bluetooth with my phone to upload workouts.

The only enhancement I with they had was an easier interface for intervals based on time. I still have to use my timex watch for intervals for my core workout (1 minute for an exercise, 10 seconds to transition to next pose, repeat).

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 620 GPS Monitors:

I ended up ordering their heart rate strap. You need it to use all of the functions. In order to have the VO2 feature you need it. I don't have the most current version of windows or operating system to have the needed software for their wireless feature. I like the feature that tells you if you are feeling good to run or not and how long you should recover. It really is amazing how accurate it is!

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 620 GPS Monitors:

This is by far the easiest Garmin to use! I owned a 205 and most recently, a 410 prior to the 620. It seems to lock onto satellites quicker and it paired with the heart rate monitor that came with my 410 (I never could get the 410 to pair with it). My only issue (which is the same issue I have had with all my Garmins) is it does not track the mileage on the wooded trails accurately. However, I did use it right out of the box before registering it and finding out it needed 2 updates. I have not trail-run with it since I did the updates..so the problem may now be fixed. My previous Garmin lost approx. .2 mile every mile when comparing to park service mileage markers. Hopefully, this will no longer be the case!

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 620 GPS Monitors:

I rely heavily on GPS watches to manage my training. I have had a Nike+ Sportwatch for the last 3 or so years and while that served it purpose it was ONLY capable of tracking runs. The price of the Nike watch was what swayed me back then. I decided I wanted a watch that would do more than track runs and I'm glad I waited for this version of the Garmin Forerunner. I am excited to use it for training for Grandma's Marathon this year. Of course, the cost is what held me back but I honestly do think that if you want all the info to help with your training program, this is the watch for you. If you are a triathlete, I would probably suggest another watch as this one probably should not be used in the water but I plan to wear this watch when I bike and run and also for other activities like hiking, XC skiing, snowshoeing, etc.

I was able to figure out how to change the screen setup easily and without instructions (and this is my first Garmin product) so you don't need to be a computer expert to use this watch successfully.

I like that this watch vibrates and beeps at every mile (the Nike+ watch only beeped and I often couldn't hear it).

You can set up a workout on the Garmin Connect website and send it to the watch. I tried that with a 3 mile run and the jury is still out on that feature. I think I will like it when I start doing more interval training and hill repeats but as soon as I completed the 3 miles, the workout was over and it did not continue to record the last 0.2 mile. Not a big deal in my book.

It picks up satellites quickly! It even picks up a signal from my living room.

I have only used it for 3-4 mile runs so far but the battery seems to be solid, even in the below zero temperatures I have been having here in Wisconsin. It also charges very quickly. The charging base is USB only but it connects quite easily and holds the watch securely with the magnet. Just need to be careful of other objects that magnets can have an effect on.

I believe Garmin Connect is undergoing some upgrades at this time but I really love the information given with the Garmin system. The watch automatically connects to wi-fi and uploads my workout immediately to the GarminConnect. It is fast and flawless.

I did not initially buy the heart rate monitor option but I have since ordered it and I can't wait to try it out. I'm looking forward to the additional information I will get from it.

I recommend this product for any serious runner or any runner that is obsessed with their run-stats. I also sync my runs to SmashRun to keep track of running. It only uploads "runs" and not other activities which was one thing I wasn't sure would happen but am pleased that it does, ie: XC skiing did not upload to SmashRun because the activity was not labeled as a run.

      Love this Garmin!

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 620 GPS Monitors:

This watch is superfast to lock onto satellites as compared to the nike+ watches. I love the notification of split times as it vibrates during the run. It has a lot of features not all of which I use but it is also somewhat customizable as far as the data screens. I was disappointed by the display. I thought the display would be a vibrant colorful display rather the color is hardly noticeable. Overall this watch is super light and durable.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 620 GPS Monitors:

Upgraded from a Garmin 410. After one week I'm impressed. The watch is intuitive, the upload to Garmin Connect was simple, the split times are easy to read on the larger dial, the vibration alert is hard to miss on splits, it seems to pick up the satellites quickly, and the watch doesn't look ridiculous to wear even when not running. Haven't tried any advanced features yet, used it in the rain, or used it on a really long run.

If you have the 610 which I did just keep using it. This 620 is just not worth the heavy price tag. If its your first Garmin you will like it ; but for me just not enough features to justify the cost...
